The Church of the Assumption is the only functioning church in Old Nessebar. It was built in 1873. It is the largest and best preserved basilica in the city. On the territory of the reserve there are many remarkable and unique natural sites, such as the estuary of the river Ropotamo, the marsh Arkutino and long forests, which at this latitude are very rare. Various rock phenomena, swamps and marshes can be seen in the protected area. The reserve is part of the larger protected area Ramsar site Ropotamo.
